The fact is that at an early age in our lives we construct a persona which we think of as “me”, also known as the ego, the psyche or the self..
Psychologically, the mind is bound by the past. It creates an image, the psyche/self/ego. It operates through belief, opinion, conformity, identification, imitation, habit, conditioning. We must learn to die, psychology in order to be who we really are. It consists of memories, experiences, recollections, images, fantasies, which bring about feelings of guilt, shame, regret, longing, disappointment, anger.
The mystery of life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced.
If man were truly free there would be no reason to talk of freedom. Awakening to consciousness sets man free and from then on he can no longer be caught in illusion. Thought cannot free itself from the ego, the self, the state of duality. It can only create another self, another “I”. In the process of destroying the “you”, you are creating another “you”.
Mind can be likened to a vast room, in which all kinds of garbage accumulates.
The nature of Mind, unencumbered by thought, is innocent, spacious, perceptive, disciplined, incisive and intelligent. This is not the mind which thought dominates and manipulates through desire, acquisitiveness self-aggrandisement.More
Perception is not limited to the intellect but involves the whole being, in a state of attention and awareness. Truth is experienced only by a mind which is attentive, aware and uncontaminated.More
The purpose of life, if there has to be a purpose, is to awaken to consciousness, self-realisation, and to find the way to ourselves, that is, our true being or essence.
